Dissecting Plants
Until my Physical Science unit I will be blogging about random things my students are doing in class. For example, today my kids dissected plants. I know what you're thinking. Dissecting plants is a big deal in fourth grade. By doing this it helps the students to see all of the different parts of the plant, specifically the flower. It always amazes me to see how well my student's do with this lab. They are always so careful not to break any of the major flower parts off. As students are completing this lab, they are also completing a lab sheet (created by myself). If you're interested in more information about this lab, or you want a copy of the lab sheet send me an e-mail lindsey.bunch@metcalfe.kyschools.us.
Have a great day everybody!

This is my first attempt at blogging, and I hope that something I post on here will be beneficial to you and your students. This blog is being set up as a leadership project for myself to help me grow as a science and reading teacher. I hope you find this blog filled with information on how to teach science with an integration of reading strategies.
Please note the following information:
1) Comments are welcome! Please note that other readers will not be able to read them, but I will and will respond to them individually. I am doing this to enforce the privacy of my students. My students will be commenting on my posts given them the privacy to be free and tell me what they think of activities that we are doing in class. They will also be telling me individually if they are struggling with a topic, need help, etc. Also, this blog is set up for my 4th grade parents to let me know if their child is struggling with one of the topics that I'm blogging about.
2) There will be days when I don't blog but one of my students do. They may include pictures of things that we are doing in class, so if it doesn't sound like me, or is not completely grammatically correct, probably one of my students is posting on my behalf.
I want this blog to be useful to my students, myself, and anyone who comes across it. Thanks for stopping by, and check back often!
